Under The Hood
The 2024 Tiguan has four trim levels, all of which have a 2.0L 4-cyl engine that can supply 184 hp and 221 lb-ft of torque. This engine is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission and FWD. AWD is available as an option for all trims and comes with four modes: snow, on-road, off-road, and off-road custom mode.
Fuel efficiency is a healthy 24 mpg in the city and 31 mpg on the highway with FWD. Choosing the AWD drivetrain will provide 22 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway.
Trim Levels
As mentioned above, the Tiguan is available in four trim levels: S, SE, SE R-Line Black, and SE R-Line. The S trim includes 6-way manually adjusted front seats, stain-resistant cloth upholstery, heated front seats, manually adjusted AC, and an 8″ digital instrument display. The SE trim adds additional features like a remote power rear liftgate, wireless recharging, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto connectivity.
The SE R-Line Black adds even more style with the front bumper, sills, trim, body-color lower cladding, and a power tilting and sliding panoramic sunroof. It also includes the unique R-Line black front grille and badging. Finally, the SE R-Line adds a light bar in the front grille, leather seating surfaces, and a Fender audio system. There are also a range of optional features that you can add to the various trims.
Seating and Cargo Capacity
The Tiguan is ahead of the curve as a compact SUV, as it has three seating rows with seating for seven. The third-row seats can be folded flat to increase cargo space. If you choose an AWD, the third row of seats isn’t available, but legroom space is increased to compensate.
Cargo space is 12 cubic feet in the trunk with all three seat rows occupied. This increases to 33 cubic feet with the third row folded, and 65.3 cubic feet with the second-row seats folded down.
Safety Features
All Tiguan trim levels include Volkswagen’s IQ.Drive driver assistance technology. This system includes rear traffic alert, front assist, emergency assist, lane assist, travel assist, adaptive cruise control, and active blind spot monitoring. In addition, anti-slip regulation, electronic stability control, and a rearview camera are installed in every Tiguan.
