1. Powertrain

The 2023 Taos comes with a highly responsive 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with direct fuel injection that produces 158 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque. This engine is standard for all three trim levels. The powertrain can be paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission with FWD or a seven-speed DSG automatic transmission with 4MOTION. The SEL trim is only available with the 4MOTION configuration. 

2. Wheels

The standard wheels for the S FWD trim are 17-inch silver painted alloy wheels, while the 4MOTION trim has 18-inch alloy wheels. The SE trim has 18-inch two-tone machined alloy wheels or optional 18-inch black painted alloy wheels. The SEL trim has 19-inch two-tone machined alloy wheels. 

3. Lighting

Each trim level comes with LED headlights, LED front turn signals, LED taillights, LED read license plate lighting, and LED daytime running lights. The SEL trim comes with standard projector headlamps and an adaptive front lighting system with dynamic cornering lights, as well as an integrated light bar for the front grille. 

4. Seating

All three trim levels have a standard three-passenger rear seat with a fold-down center armrest and a 60/40 split-folding capacity. A manually adjustable driver and front passenger seat are standard for the S trim, while the SE and SEL trims support a power-adjustable driver’s seat with included lumbar support. Heated front seats are standard for the SE and SEL trims, as well as the S 4MOTION trim. 

The seat material for the S trim is cloth in gray and black. The SE trim seating is made with CloudTex/Cloth in black or gray. The SEL trim has perforated Vienna leather in French Roast/Black or Gray/Black.

5. Technology

The S trim has a standard 6.5-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth connectivity, and App-Connect smartphone integration. The SE trim has an eight-inch touchscreen, voice control, and a six-speaker sound system. The SEL trim comes with an eight-inch touchscreen with navigation, a BeatsAudio premium sound system with a subwoofer, and a Qi wireless inductive charger.
