The Volkswagen Tiguan and Nissan Rogue are two of the most popular compact SUVs. Though both vehicles excel in different areas, the Volkswagen Tiguan sticks out due to its sporty handling along with upscale features.
Performance and Efficiency
The Tiguan's turbocharged 2.0-liter engine produces 201 horsepower, which gives it a more responsive feel. Its new platform improves handling. The Rogue also has 201 horsepower, but its 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine comes with a CVT transmission, which isn't as engaging.
For fuel efficiency, the Rogue gives up to 30 mpg city and 37 mpg highway. The 2024 Tiguan delivers 24 mpg city and 31 mpg highway. The 2025 model should see improvements thanks to its new lighter build.
Interior and Technology
The Tiguan feels more premium with available leather upholstery, genuine wood accents, and a redesigned center console for extra storage. It also offers massaging seats and three-zone climate control. The Rogue has a nice interior, too, but real leather is only available on top trims.
The Tiguan comes with a 12.9-inch touchscreen, while a larger 15-inch display is available. The Rogue, meanwhile, has a standard 8-inch screen, though higher trims offer a 12.3-inch Google-based system with built-in apps.
Safety Features
Both SUVs offer automated emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, and lane-keeping assist. However, the Tiguan has four extra airbags, bringing the total to 10 for better protection. Also, the adaptive cruise control is standard with the Tiguan, unlike the Rogue.
So, though, the Nissan Rogue is a good choice for those who want efficiency. But the Volkswagen Tiguan is the better pick for the ones who want safer rides, more premium features, and better value overall.
